Windsurfing and Kiteboarding

Windsurfing and kiteboarding in Aruba is completely different than at many other places across the world: all year round wind, sunny tropical weather, little rain, boardshorts, shallow and turqouise water and beautiful sandy beaches.

Moreover, wind conditions are ideal year-round. The best time for Aruba is January to September with the North East trade winds in the 18 to 27 knot range. The rainy season isn't bad and you should get decent winds October to December - just a bit lighter.

Boardwalk Hotel Aruba is conveniently located right across from the wind and kitesurfing beach, called the Fisherman's Huts.

Windsurfing

Aruba is rated one of the top locations in the world for windsurfing. Whether you are just learning to sail, or can rip with the best, Aruba is a windsurfer's dream. Crystal clear waist-deep waters and consistent wind are about as close to ideal as you get can. There are several Wind- and Kitesurf centers on the island. We work together with the Vela Windsurf Center located right on the beach at the Marriott Resort; 150 yards from Boardwalk.

Kiteboarding

With its shallow waters and all year round wind, Aruba is one of the best places in the Caribbean to learn or practice kiteboarding. The Fisherman's huts is home to several kitesurfing schools. It has flat shallow water and offer ideal circumstances for teaching. Boca Grandi is another spot South on the island. With its waves and constant onshore wind, its the preferred playground amongst experienced kiteboarders. The different spots offer different conditions, making it ideal for both beginners and professionals.
